Roughness and light microscopy

The visual inspection of film in a light microscope enables us to identify the base film, e.g. to distinguish between OPP, PET and other films.

6µ cast film
OPP (Polypropylene film)
PET (Polyester film)

This inspection is also suggestive of dealing with roughness although it can only give an impression rather than actual numbers.
